Just to follow up, there are many studies demonstrating that individuals, groups and animals use telepathy and so we know now that the phenomena is more to do with skill rather than natural ability, although, as Bibu states, the cranium is most probably the arbitor. For example, we know that telepathy is not bound by distance or time. We know that dogs will share information telepathically. Humans also share information telepathically, and you can inform a person using your telepathy. I suspect that invisibility is also down to telepathy.
At some stage during the 1920s however, the natural skills and abilities that we would currently believe impossible were lost (the Chinese fighting arts).
